The Emery High Lady Spartan soccer team is second in region 15 action this fall and will host the region leader and the number one ranked team in the state in 3-A soccer this Tuesday in Castle Dale. Manti possesses a 10-1 overall record and a 6-0 region record while the Spartans are 8-3-1 overall and possess a 6-1 region record. Emery will also travel to Grand on Thursday of next week.
Last week Emery defeated North Sanpete 3-1 as Alexis Winter and Sophie Huntington had goals in the game. On Thursday Emery defeated South Sevier 5-0 as Winter scored three times and Morgan Hurdsman and Addy Healy each scored once. Emery is now on a four-game winning streak.
For the season Alexis Winter has scored 16 goals and is ranked third in 3-A scoring while teammate Jocee Funk has scored 10 goals and is ranked sixth. Hurdsman has scored five times and Huntington has scored 4 times.
Mileena McElvaney has recorded two shutouts this season as the goalie.
