USU Eastern Library and Learning Commons Open House is Nov. 1 from Noon to 2 p.m.
The term “commons” is and old English legal name for common land and is a shared resource in which each stakeholder has an equal interest. The learning commons revolution is occurring through the nation where libraries have extended their impact as centers for teaching and learning.
Utah State University Eastern is investing in the future of redesigning spaces for purposeful and self-directed learning. Student collaboration and research innovation. The campus “Library” is now the Library and Learning Commons (LLC). It will support academic success through
· Library services and resources
· Academic tutoring access for Math and Sciences
· Aggies Center for Enrichment (ACE) for academic support instruction
· Communications commons for student and faculty exploration
· Reflection room for student, staff and employees to carry out either structured or unstructured meditation, reflection or prayer.
· Student production space for individual and group student(s) with supplies for learning through production. Including a Makerspace facility.
Plans continue as we transition from Phase II that involved moving things around to Phase III that will involve architectural changes and decisions for a food service invite.
USU Eastern invites their students and employees to welcome the community in sharing our vision of the Library and Learning Commons on Wednesday, Nov. 1 from Noon to 2 p.m. with a Ribbon Cutting at 12:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
