Green River beats Escalante, Piute and Wendover loses to Valley; Takes sixth place at State Tourney

In day one of the state tournament Green River Lady Pirates lost to Valley in their first match. They won one game 18-25 and Valley took the other three 25-10; 25-9 and 25 to 17.
This loss dropped the Pirates into the consolation bracket where they met Escalante. Escalante took the first game 25-22 and the Pirates took the second game 25-11 and the third game 25-15. Escalante rallied back to take the fourth game 27-25; the Pirates finished off Escalante 15-9 in the final game.
On Saturday of the tournament the Pirates met Piute where they won 25-20; 25-22; 21-25; 16-25 and 15-13. This put them into the consolation championship game with Wendover. The Pirates beat Wendover 25-15; 21-25; 25-22; 25-20 to take sixth place in the tournament.
The Pirates players include: Lindsey McFarlane, Talynn Lovato, Prisma Mendez, Daniela Mendez, Celica Mendoza, Lindsey Alvarado, Brouquelyn Hatfield-Knight, Kaidence Meadows, Maribel Escalante, Ximena Escalante, Miranda Johnson, Morgan Bastian, Cecilia Trejo, Jocelyn Brady, Rilee Alvarado, Selene Mendoza and Rebecka Shaffer. The Pirates are coached by head coach Kristi Brady and assistant coach Madison Suarez.
The state tournament was held in Orem at the Utah Valley University.
