Patsy Stoddard, visited local schools and preschools presenting a Thanksgiving program. She went to Happy Hearts preschool, Shellet Rowley and Tiffany Cowley’s third grade at Huntington Elementary, Jaime Anderson and Jaime Huggard’s fifth grade at Castle Dale Elementary and Kari Alton’s class at Cottonwood Elementary.
The students ground corn, made butter and necklaces, played games, cracked nuts and ate beef jerky. They popped fresh popcorn grown in the Stoddard garden. They learned about muzzleloaders and mountain man gear. They also tried on hats and clothes from the mountain man era. The students were given ears of Indian Corn to take home for a decoration.
They learned about Thanksgiving and the pilgrims and Native Americans and how they worked together and held the first Thanksgiving dinner.
