Castle Dale – Elwin V. Rasmussen, 91, died Dec. 5, 2017 in Price, Utah. He was born Nov 6, 1926 in Wattis, Utah to Merrald and Mildred VanBuren Rasmussen. He married Juanita Snow on Dec 9, 1950 in Castle Dale and was later sealed to her in the LDS Manti temple.
After graduating from Carbon High School, Elwin served his country by joining the Air Force during WWII. Later, he attended Utah State University and eventually moved to East Carbon where he successfully started and managed several businesses, raised his family, served as an LDS Bishop twice, and as a counselor in the Wellington Stake Presidency. Elwin was a mechanic and a farmer at heart, spending much of his life repairing all types of vehicles. In his spare time, he enjoyed refurbishing antique cars and then driving them in the community parades. Then he retired to full time ranching and farming, which he dearly loved. Elwin also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing, singing, dancing, playing cards, four-wheeling, and snowmobiling. He loved his family and taught by example his core values of hard work, generosity, and devotion to his Savior.
He is survived by his wife: Juanita; children: Penny (Kenny) Orr, Elwin Van (Charlene), Annette (Michael) Watson, Douglas Clyde (Kaye), David Pat (Barbara), Richard Nordell (Peggy); sister: Colleen Beach; 21 grandchildren, and 42 great grandchildren.
