Jess Nelson

FERRON-Jess Russell Nelson, Jr., 51, passed away December 23, 2017, in Ferron, Utah.

He was born February 14, 1966 in Price, Utah to Jesse Russell and Connie Maxey Nelson.

Jess married the love of his life, DaShai Guymon on February15, 1986; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on December 15, 1992.

Jess was a lifelong resident of Emery County and a 1984 graduate of Emery High School. Jess worked for Industrial Electric and Tram Electric as a skilled motorman, then later was employed by SUFCO Coal Mine where he truly loved being a coal miner. Jess shared a deep passion for ice fishing, hunting, going to the desert and shooting guns. He also enjoyed leatherwork, MMA, Harley Davidson’s, listening to music and going on road trips with his family in his treasured 1990 Dodge Ram Charger.

Jess will be dearly missed by his family and many dear friends.

He is survived by his wife, DaShai Nelson, Ferron; sons, Wylie Jess Nelson, Centerville, Wyatt Lamar Nelson, Zachary Russell Nelson, both of Ferron; mother, Connie Nelson, Ferron; sisters, Valynn Nelson, Ferron, Brenda (Todd) Winder, New Mexico; in-laws, Lamar and Gayla Guymon, Huntington, Stephanie (Jeff) Adams, St. George, Melany (James) Weaver, Huntington, Jeremy (Kenzi) Guymon, Ferron, Tim (Teresa) Guymon, Huntington, Karlee (Kip) Leonard, Price; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jess was preceded in death by his father and best friend, Jesse Russell Nelson.

There will be a viewing Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Ferron Millsite Ward Building (35 West 200 North). Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 28, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at the Ferron City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Jess online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
