Emery County had to wait a week for the new year’s baby, but for the Nielsen family from Clawson it was definitely worth the wait as a new baby sister joined their family.
Austyn Nielsen, age 9, missed sharing a birthday with her new baby sister by just one day.
Emery County’s 2018 New Year’s baby, Baylin, was born Jan. 7 at 1:23 p.m. at Castleview Hospital in Price to Clawson residents Mervin and Aron Nielsen.
The baby weighed in at 7 pounds, 5 ounces. She measured 20 inches.
Mom, dad and big sister were expected to bring the baby home to Emery County on Jan. 9. The Emery County New Year’s baby will receive a variety of prizes from local businesses as they welcome the new baby to Emery County.
The baby will receive two boxes of diapers from Stewarts Market in Castle Dale; $20 gift card from Main Street Grill, $25 gift certificate from Food Ranch in Orangeville, two gallons of free paint from Magnuson Lumber in Castle Dale; pool passes from Desert Wave; Coldstone Creamery gift cards; $20 gift card from Fatty’s; movie passes from the Price Theatre; $25 gift card from Walmart; one year subscription to the Emery County Progress and a free birthday ad in the Progress to celebrate the baby’s first birthday.
