Six students from the Bobby Lawrence Karate School located in Orangeville, competed in the Semi Annual Bobby Lawrence Karate Interschool Fall Tournament held at UCCU Center at Utah Valley University in Orem on November 11.
BLK is the largest karate organization in the state of Utah consisting of 20 schools statewide.
The tournament consisted of about 500 students competing.
The local students were Zander Hughes, Zayne Perea, Jayven Thomas, Lukas Thomas, Garek Bennett and Dreyden Oman.
These students competed in the areas of Power Karate, Kata, Weapons Forms, and Flag Sparring.
The six students performed extremely well bringing home first, second and third places in weapons forms.
First and second place in Kata, and third place in Power Karate for the 12 yr. old division ranks: Orange belt through Purple.
“These kids work hard and deserve the recognition” says coach Heather Orgill, “I couldn’t be more proud of them and all they have accomplished.”
The students competed against students from schools around the state in divisions determined by age and belt rank.
In the six and seven year old division Ranks: Orange stripe to Solid Green, the following medals were given: first and third in Kata, first and third in Power Karate, first in Weapons Forms, third in Flag sparring.
