The Emery High boys’ swim team won a state title for the second straight year as they won the 3-A crown at last week’s meet in Heber City.  Last season Emery won the 2-A title.  The Spartan boys scored 242 points to finish ahead of second-place North Summit with 187 points and third-place Judge Memorial High School with 171.5 points.
The Lady Spartans finished third with 225 points behind Rowland Hall with 279 points and Carbon High with 257 points.  Judge was fourth with 213 points.  The Lady Spartans won just one event, the first event of the day which was the 200-yard medley relay. Swimmers for the Emery team were Sydney Terwilleger, Haley Guymon, Kaelee Hooley and Alexis Johansen. Johansen and Terwilleger are juniors, Hooley is a sophomore and Guymon is a freshman.
For the boys’ team Keldan Guymon led the Spartans as he finished first in two individual events and then swam on the two winning relay teams for Emery.  Keldan won the 50-yard freestyle in 22.67 and won the 100-yard freestyle in 50.99.  Guymon also swam the final leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay race that won and final leg of the final event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay race.  Other members of the winning relay teams were Deegan Minchey, Parker Stilson and Asher Beagley. Minchey, Stilson and Guymon are all juniors and Beagley is a freshman.
Other top six finishes by the Emery teams were Deegan Minchey third in the 100-yard backstroke and fourth in the 200-yard IM and Beagley sixth in the 100-yard fly.  For the Lady Spartans, Hooley was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle, Guymon was second in the 100-yard breaststroke, the team of Angellena Migliori, Hooley, BriAnne Bass and Johansen was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle relay race and the team of Migliori, Guymon, Terwilleger and Bass was sixth in the 400-yard freestyle relay race.
Other top 12 finishes for the girls were Hooley, seventh, and Guymon, eighth, in the 200-yard IM, Johansen eighth, Bass 11th and Migliori 12th in the 50-yard free, Terwilleger ninth in the 100-yard fly, Bass 11th in the 100-yard free, Johansen eighth in the 100-yard backstroke and Migliori seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke.
For the boys, other top 12 finishes were Stilson seventh in the 200-yard IM, Stilson ninth in the 100-yard backstroke and Beagley seventh and Eli Beagley 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke.
