John P. and Rose Piantes Lionakis

John P. and Rose Piantes Lionakis celebrated 70 years of marriage in February 2018.
This platinum celebration started when John returned from serving in the Pacific Theater with an infantry unit.
He was wounded, eventually returned to Price and started dating Rose shortly there after. She was working at Penney’s at the time and told us four kids dad was there all the time hounding her to marry him. Which eventually happened in February of 1948.
They eventually moved to California in 1959 when the mines were idle in Sunnyside. He spent over 30 years with parks and rec and Rose worked for the state of California. Until they got too fragile to travel, they came to Price every summer and in later years made sure that coincided with the Greek food festival.
The Greek Church here in Price is where they exchanged their original wedding vows.
They are blessed with four children, Peter of Price, Utah, George of Las Vegas, Nevada, Joy of Huntington Beach, California, and John Jr. of El Dorado Hills, California. Also grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
