Elexis Dalton
World Language
My name is Elexis Dalton, I am the daughter of Gratt and Corinne Dalton and I was born in Colorado Springs, Colo. I am a 4.0 student and to me, that reflects hard work. I’ve been preparing myself as a sterling scholar since my freshman year, as it has always been a desire of mine. Sterling scholar has taught me to mold my foreign language speaking talent into other areas of my life. It has allowed me to progress towards my educational goal of the medical field because of the memorization then application is necessary for both. In this program, I’ve also been strengthened in my desire to serve my community. As I get involved with my community more and more, it becomes less and less about me. As I near competition I recognize that it has already rewarded me with lifelong achievements, service lessons, and passion for the Spanish language.

Danyale Service
English
My name is Danyale Service, and I am a writer. I was born in Sandy, Utah, but that is not my home. My home is a small county that has always been overlooked and forgotten: Emery County. When I was little, I wouldn’t talk, because I had a speech impediment. Life was tough, but I knew how to be tougher. As I grew older, hardships became normal. Some years, my family didn’t have water and others we didn’t have power. I refuse to forget these slight problems, so instead I write about them. I write so one day I can give my parents everything they gave me and more. I fight to show those the power that writing has on the heart and mind. And I work to give those who don’t have a voice or support hope. I am the English Sterling Scholar, for these reasons and more.
Bridger Ivie
Music
My name is Bridger Ivie; I was born in Roosevelt Hospital and spent my childhood in Duchesne. I now live in Huntington with the few remaining siblings of the eight children in my family. Every member of my family is heavily involved in music, so from the time I was born I have been exposed to music. It has always been a constant factor in my life. I started playing and composing before I could read music or play the piano. Music brought color to a black and white world. I view Sterling Scholar as an opportunity to evaluate my self and further myself as a musician rather than an award or competition.

No matter what I’m doing, I give it my all and I have fun doing it! recently I was named to the 2017-18 UHSAA Academic All-State Soccer Team. I was also selected as one of the top 50 students in Utah to attend the Governors’ Honors Academy held at SUU. I love to spend my free time with my family, my friends, and of course my dog, Boomer!

Lexi Gale
Dance
I am Alexis Gale, I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and I have been dancing for 16 years. I started dancing when I was 2 years old, but I realized how much I loved dancing when my parents got divorced. Dancing helped me cope with many different difficult emotions. I want to be a Sterling Scholar to show people that yes, life can throw a few curve balls, but you have to choose how it will affect your life and which road you will go down. I want to prove to people that you are not defined by your hardships and that you can choose the course of your life. One of my biggest goals is to share my love of dancing with others and show them the wonders that dancing can do for you. Dancing is more than just art, it’s a definition of a person.
