A lockdown exercise was held at Cleveland Elementary this morning. The Emery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a mock call of an intruder in the school.
The classrooms and secretary’s office went into Lockdown. The Emery County Sheriff’s Office along with Utah Highway Patrol and a DWR officer entered and secured the building. The students were then evacuated from the building.
The students and teachers were very cooperative and the children were silent during the training drill.
The Emery County Sheriff’s Office trains at each school in the county throughout the year. The students are briefed on what is going on so they aren’t frightened by having officers in their school.
