The Emery Spartans baseball team faced a tough Richfield team at Spartan field on Tuesday night. The Richfield Wildcats went home with a win.
The weather was perfect for the game. The Wildcats scored early when one of their players popped a homerun over the fence to bring the first inning score to 0-2.
The Spartans couldn’t get their bats rolling against a tough pitcher and a tough left and center fielder. The Spartans had plenty of hits but they landed in the mitts of the fielders.
Some adjustments were made at the bats and the Spartans were able to get some base hits but it wasn’t enough to overpower the Wildcats.
The Spartans will play Richfield again next Tuesday for their last region game. The baseball playoffs begin the first weekend in May and games will be held at home sites of the first place teams.
The Sophomore team will play Grand tonight at Cheddar field. The final home game of the season and Senior Night will be held on Friday.
Final score of the Richfield game was 2-15.
