The region 15 track meet was held last week at Manti High School and the Grand High boys and the Richfield High girls were the two team winners. Grand scored 161.5 points and they were followed by Richfield with 137 points, Emery with 116 points, Manti with 103.5 points, North Sanpete with 51 points, San Juan with 37 points and South Sevier with 6 points.
The Lady Wildcats scored 163 points in the win and they were followed by Grand with 126.5 points, San Juan with 76 points, Manti with 75 points, North Sanpete with 58 points, Emery with 58 points and South Sevier with 53.5 points.
The Emery boys had three individual winners on the day, Braiden Ivie won both the 100-meter race and the 200-meter race and Cale Allred took first place in the javelin. Allred also finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and eighth in the110-meter hurdles. Emery’s Mason Faimalo finished second in both the 110-meter hurdles and in the high jump and also ended the day with a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles.
Also placing in multiple events for the Emery boys were Treven Brazier in the 300 hurdles with a sixth-place finish and a seventh-place finish in the high jump. Keldan Guymon placed third in the javelin and seventh in the 300 hurdles. Drake Hoffman finished second in the shot put and fourth in the discus. Marquis Giroux finished third in the discus, Jaden Defa was fifth in the high jump, Ty Funk was second in the 800 meters and Bryar Meccariello was eighth in that same race. Braxton Young was sixth
in the long jump.
For the Lady Spartans, Tiana Jensen and Tayden Nielson had the best finishes for the day as they finished third, Jensen in the 100-meter hurdles and Nielson in the high jump. Nielson was also fourth in the 800 meters and Jensen was also sixth in the long jump. Bethany Justice placed three times as she finished fourth in the 100 meters, fifth in the long jump and seventh in the 400 meters.
Paige Stansfield was seventh in the 100 hurdles, Jayla Weston was fourth in the shot put, McKenzie Cox was fourth in the discus and Elexis Dalton was fifth in that same event. JoJo Peterson was seventh in the javelin and Samantha Morgan was eight in the javelin. The Utah State track meets will start this Friday and Saturday at the BYU track complex in Provo.
