The concrete work on the walls of the spillway on the Millsite Dam Rehabilitation project at Millsite Reservoir in Ferron has been suspended.
Microfractures have been found in the concrete in the walls. Possibly produced by the heat of the concrete.
The NRCS is working to find a solution to the problem.
This will set the spillway back from its anticipated completion.
The floor of the spillway is finished for now. After any runoff passes this spring then the labyrinth weir will be poured later in the summer. The design of the weir allows more waterflow into the spillway.
Work continues on the dam and with the processing of the materials which will be reinstalled on the dam.
The Millsite Golf Course hasn’t been able to use the lower holes at the golf course. These holes will now be open for play as the delay with the spillway will also delay the bridge which takes golfers from hole one to hole two. An alternate cart path will be established to reach the lower holes so play can continue there through the construction process.
Note: The photos are of the entire project, not just spillway photos.
