At the conclusion of the Utah State High School track championships last Saturday night at the BYU track facility, 12 teams had been crowned as champions in the six different size classifications for the men and the women.
Grand High scored the most points for the 3-A boys and Juab scored the most points for the 3-A girls. The Emery boys came in ninth and the Emery girls came in 16th.
For the Emery boys, sophomore Braiden Ivie had the best day of any Spartan as he scored 16 points over the two days as he came in second in both the 100-meter race and the 200-meter race behind the Delta sprinter, the fastest boy in the State of Utah this year.
Also scoring for the boys were Mason Faimalo who was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles and tied for eighth in the high jump. Drake Hoffman was sixth in the shot put, Ty Funk was seventh in the 800-meters and Keldan Guymon was seventh in the javelin. Also competing for the Emery boys were Cale Allred in the 300-meter hurdles and the javelin and Hoffman and Marquis Giroux in the discus.
Jayla Weston had the best finish of any Lady Spartan as she finished fourth in the shot put. Also scoring for the Ladies were McKenzie Cox with a sixth-place finish in the discus and Tayden Nielson with a tie for seventh place in the high jump. Nielson also competed in the 800-meters, Bethany Justice ran in the 100-meter race and Tiana Jensen ran the 100-meter hurdles. The Emery girls also participated in the 4×100 including Tiana Jensen, Chloe Sermon, Bethany Justice and Sydney Terwilleger.
