More vandalism at Huntington restrooms

The Huntington City Council met on July 18. They reported on the recent vandalism at city parks. There were two incidents at the Huntington Lions Park. The first involved blood being smeared all over the bathroom. The second incident at that location involved mud all over the restrooms. The new restroom on Main Street was vandalized just prior to Heritage Days. This time the culprits were spotted still inside the building by the worker who waters the Main Street flowers. She detained the children until the police arrived. These chidren were talked to and they were banished from all Huntington city properties. Another incident occurred after this at the concession stand restrooms. These restrooms have now been closed. Everyone is asked to keep an eye out for city property and if you see people damaging city properties to call the city hall and the sheriff’s office.
Mayor LaMar Guymon talked about the vandalism kids have done in the city parks and how it costs the city money that could be spent on better things. The Mayor complimented and thanked the City Council and City employees for their work at the rodeo grounds and the Heritage Days celebration. The Rodeo and Heritage Days was a big success.
A Business license was approved for Buck Horn Wash, this is for a car wash and storage units.
Miss Emery County Makayla Wolford attended and asked for a donation to sponsor an award for Miss Congeniality a $75 donation was approved.
Huntington City Hall will be closing at 1 p.m. on Fridays beginning Sept. 7. This will allow the office staff to work in the back room preparing old records to ship to the State Archives. Huntington third ward scout troop 903 attended council meeting and reported that they are working on their communication badge.
The main focus of the council reports was the success of the Rodeo and Heritage Days Celebration. It was estimated that there were approximately 5,000 people at the Heritage Days Celebration.
