Alton Joe Burns (Tunie) 83, passed away from heart failure on Sept. 13, 2018 just three days before his 84th birthday. He was born in Omega, New Mexico on Sept. 16, 1934, with his twin sister Alta they were the 7th and 8th children of George W. Burns and Annabelle Eddy Burns. He was a true cowboy at heart and spent most of his younger years working on ranches. He was a Veteran and served his country in the Army where he was stationed in Korea.
He married Betty Jean Hill on March 26, 1956. They have been married for 62 years. They relocated from New Mexico to Green River, Utah in 1967, where they made their home for 51 years, only recently living part time in Washington, Utah.
Tunie loved music which earned him his nickname. He could play almost any instrument, but was especially known for playing the fiddle.
He is survived by his wife Betty, his daughter Deanna (Kirk), his son Allen (Minajean), nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Terry, his parents, his four sisters and three brothers. Graveside memorial services will be held at a later date.
