The annual Green River Melon Days festival is ranked the third most popular fall festival in Utah. Festival goers were out in full force as they converged on the small Emery County town. The softball tournament brought in teams from around the region. The square dancers bring their own entourage as they danced the night away Friday and Saturday and had a raffle for many prizes.
The cheerleaders hosted their 5K run and the annual scout breakfast was attended by many. The Melon Days parade was held along Main Street and vendors and food trucks in the park added to the fun. The bouncy toys were in the park all day and a zipline.
The leukemia awareness walk, “Light the Night” was held for Deklan Walker. A raffle was also held to raise funds for his fight against leukemia. Deklan is currently undergoing chemo treatments, but is doing well. Emery County Commissioners Lynn Sitterud and Kent Wilson came to the event as well as John Curtis, the representative in Congress for Emery County. Mike Olsen, county attorney attended to support the event. Deklan, John Curtis and Mayor Bacon were the grand marshals for the day’s celebration.
Code Blue Revival rocked the park Saturday night with a variety of tunes.
