PRICE – James “Jamie” Phillips passed away Aug. 18, 2018 at his home.
Born June 12, 1954 and adopted by Aileen and James “Bob” Phillips, Jamie graduated from Carbon High School and attended trade school in Provo. Jamie went on to have a long career as a coal miner working in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. He was the type of co-worker that everyone enjoyed working with whether it was from his famous “Jamie Jokes” or his desire to make sure that every miner made it home at the end of the day. Some of the most trying times in his career was working on the mine rescue team during the Wilberg disaster. His career was something he was especially proud of.
He was avid hunter, outdoorsman and loved to tinker in his workshops. He loved to be on his boat the “Gemini Dream” and most weekends would be found trying to find a lake to ski on. He was an amazing father, grandfather and friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand. Over the years he had a close group of friends that would meet at Farlainos for breakfast, where the stories that were shared were filled with the typical “Phillips twist”. There wasn’t a day that passed that he wasn’t talking to his son and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by his son David (Susan) Diamanti, his sister Cory Bean and his three grandsons Dawson Daniel Fischer, Jaxson and Maksim Dyson who he truly loved. Loved ones Leslie Phillips, Brett Brewer, Tim Brewer, Harold Morgan and Pete Eaquinta and many very dear friends in Colorado and Utah.
Preceded in death by his daughter Brittany, his parents Aileen and James “Bob” Phillips, and his most beloved dog Roscoe, who was by Jamie’s side everyday.
Memorial service Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, 6-7:30 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, Price. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Jaime at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
