Scott Wooden

Loving husband Father, Brother, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Uncle, Cousin and friend to many, left this life fighting with grace and dignity surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah from a rare form of Acute Myloid Leukemia. Scott was born February 15, 1944 to Win and Mary Wooden in Clarksville, Texas.

Scott attended school until the eleventh grade and then went to work as a “roughneck” in the oil fields with his Uncle Melvin Wooden. After a few years of working he enlisted in the Army and served four years in Korea.

Scott met a beautiful “redhead”, by chance at his gas station, Virginia “Ginny” Murning and they were married on Aug. 7, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were blessed with Channa Lynn and Pete.  Scott also had a daughter Kelly Lynn Wright.

Scott’s greatest treasures were his family, friends and his dogs, Lenny and Honey Bunny.

He was truly blessed with the gift of compassion.  He was always willing to help anyone, family, friends, or strangers, with anything that needed to be done. He was a jack-of-all-trades.

Scott is survived by his wife Ginny, daughter Kelly Lynn (Jeff) Wright of Helper, son Pete (Kim) Wooden of Las Vegas, grandchildren, Katelin and PJ of Las Vegas, Brittany (Shane) Wible of Tulum Mexico, great-grandson, Gibson, sisters JoAnn (Vink) Tolich of Helper, Louise (Charles) Hamilton of Helper, sister-in-laws, Karen Ward, Huntington, Doris (Danny) Quinn, Castle Dale, Shena (Albert) Rodriguez, Salt Lake City. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Each and every one he left behind will miss him so very much.

Preceded in death by daughter Channa Lynn, parents Win and Mary, sister-in-law Lainie, brother-in-law Don.

Memorial services will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price, Utah on Saturday Sept. 29, 2018 at 3: p.m. Friends and family are welcome to write memories of Scott online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
