“Swede”
HELPER– Seldon LeRoy Barker, age 75, went home to his loving Lord and Savior on Sept. 16, 2018.
He was born Jan. 8, 1943 in Price, Utah to Wesley Raymond and Mary Barker.
Seldon married his best friend, Carole Saccomanno, on May 26, 1962. Later they were blessed with three children.
After graduating from Carbon High School in 1961 he enlisted in the Army Reserves. Seldon was a long-time member of New Life Ministries. He was a hard-working coal miner for 30 years where his passion was to minister to his fellow coal miners. Later in his life he would spread the word of God through ministries he held at the local jail. He was a dedicated sports fan for the Steelers, Yankees, and Jazz. The only thing that he loved more in this world than sports was his family.
Seldon is survived by his loving wife, Carole Barker, Helper, Utah; his three children, Torie and Chan Snyder, Price, Utah, Dawn and Steve Manzanares, Price, Utah, and Dirk Barker, Price, Utah; sisters, Darlene (Darwin) Dull, Kearny, Arizona, Donna Tyson, Price, Utah, and Ardith Nielson, Price, Utah; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Seldon was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Virginia Wheeler; brothers, Keith Barker, and Doug Barker; and in-laws, Charlie and Grace Saccomanno.
Funeral service, Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, 11 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
