Scout Award Banquet


The Annual Scout Award Banquet for all scouters and parents will be held Jan. 12, at 7 p.m. at the Castle Dale LDS Stake Center. $7 per plate. Guest speaker is Keith Alger. RSVP to Rex Wilson (435-687-9920) or Ray Grange (435-687-9979).

Rabies Clinic


A reminder to Cleveland residents that they are required to license their dogs by Feb. 28. All dogs must have proof of current rabies shots to be licensed. Persons failing to do so are subject to a $15 fine in addition to regular fees. This late fee will be enforced as of March 1. The town will sponsor two rabies clinics on Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon and Jan. 26 from 1-3 p.m. at the Cleveland Cemetery storage building, 200 North 600 East by the cemetery in Cleveland.

Agriculture Scholarships

EMT Classes

Cancer Screening


Southeastern Utah District Health Department in Castle Dale is offering a cancer screening clinic for women between the ages of 40-64 on Jan. 11, including breast, pelvic, and pap exams at low or no cost. Ask about a mammogram voucher. Call 381-2252 to schedule an appointment.

Visual Arts Fellowship


Two $5,000 fellowships are being awarded through the Visual Arts Program of the Utah Arts Council. Postmark deadling is Jan. 18. Fellowships are awarded annually to encourage artists in crafts, drawing, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture, as well as new genres and conceptual art. Outreach to Veterans


John Maher, department service officer for the Disabled American Veterans will be providine assistance in Price on Jan. 23, at the Workforce Office, 475 West Price River Drive, #265, from 8-11 a.m. or you may call 801-359-8168 to know which documents you will need to bring or to have questions answered.

Town/County Meeting


Four Corners Community Mental Health Center will be holding a town meeting on Jan 24, at 6 p.m. in the Castle Dale Senior Citizens Center. The purpose is to review for citizens the mental health and substance abuse services that are currently in place and to receive input from the public concerning these services as well as ideas to enhance or add services. The Emery High Peer Helpers will entertain; light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Get Ready for Kindergarten


There are new requirements for kindergarten entry for 2002-03. Be prepared; start now to get those required immunizations. A child must have proof of receiving eight types of immunizations. For questions regarding your child’s immunization status, contact your health care provider. Pass the word; help by informing a neighbor with a kindergarten age child. MS Volunteers Needed


Do you or someone you care about have an interest in attending a self help group but there isn’t one? Help yourself/help others to personal knowledge and understanding of Multiple Sclerosis by volunteering to start an MS group in our area. Interested?
