Holiday Lights at Thanksgiving Point

Spartan Basketball Broadcast Change


The broadcasts for Emery Spartan Basketball have been moved to KUSA The Eagle. The frequency is FM 107.7 in Emery County and 100.9 in Carbon County. They will broadcast 12 games throughout the season in addition to the state tournament.

Huntington Enrichment Night


Huntington 1st Ward will hold Enrichment night on Dec. 11 at 6:30 p.m. There will be food and Christmas stories. Everyone welcome.

Scout Leaders, Cub Scout Leaders


Youth Protection Training will be on Dec. 11 at the Castle Dale Stake Center at 6:15 p.m., round table at 7:30 p.m. Come and get some new ideas.

Cedar Mountain Traveling Exhibit


The Cedar Mountain Traveling Exhibit will be at the Museum of the San Rafael on Dec. 6 from 5:30-7 p.m.

Band and Chorus Concerts


The chorus concert for Emery High, San Rafael Junior High and Canyon View Junior High will be held at the high school on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. The Emery High band concert will be held Dec. 18 at the school at 7 p.m. The band concerts for the junior high will be held: for San Rafael on Dec. 16 and for Canyon View on Dec. 9, both at 7 p.m at their schools.

Junior Jazz Sign-ups


There will be more junior jazz sign-ups. For more information contact Cindy at 748-2235. There is a need for junior high and high school age players.

Ferron Christmas


This season for Christmas in Mayors Park, Ferron will host “A Walk Down Memory Lane.” This walk will highlight lost loved ones. Anyone who has lost someone and want to participate is welcome to decorate a tree to be placed along the sidewalk in the park. For more information contact Kathy at 384-2574 or Laurie at 384-2421.

National Photo Contest


Castle Dale children under 14 are welcomed to enter a national photo contest. The competition was developed to get children out into nature and away from the TV during the winter. Log onto www.2ndNatureJustforKids.com to enter. Photos must be in color and the subjectmatter must be “something made in nature.” Three winners will be selected in each category.

Buckhorn Archery Club


Sign ups for the Buckhorn Archery Club will be held at the Emery County Recreation Center on Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. Bring your bow. Must be 12 years old or older to shoot. For more information call Randy at 384-3393, Brook at 384-2396 or Eric at 384-2319.

Community Theatre Hay Ride

“Annie” Tryouts


Emery County Community Theatre announced tryouts for “Annie,” Dec. 2-3 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Emery High Chorus Room. Try out packets are available at the libraries.

Christmas Tree Tags


Christmas tree tags for the Ferron/Price Ranger District will be available to the public on Nov. 28. The tags will be sold on a first come first served basis and only one permit per family. A tree may be cut anywhere on the Ferron/Price ranger district except for Huntington Canyon, Straight Canyon, campgrounds and timber sale area. Permits can be obtained at 115 West Canyon Road, Ferron, or 599 West Price River Drive, Price. For more information call 435-384-2372 or 435-637-2817.

Holiday Lights at Thanksgiving Point


Thanksgiving Point is starting a new holiday tradtion this year. Bring your family to this unique drive through display of more than one million lights in five different holiday themes. Veterans of Foreign Wars


A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department Service Office will be at the Price Workforce Service Center from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Dec. 11 to assist in understanding applying for rightful VA benefits. This is a free service and veterans need not be members of the VFW to qualify for assistance.

Festival of Trees


The Festival of Trees which benefits Primary Children’s Medical Center will be held Dec. 3-6 at the South Towne Expo Center in Salt Lake City. The festival will run from 10 a.m-10 p.m. daily. There will be many displays including trees, wreaths and crafts. There will also be entertainment and food items available.

Christmas Tree Permits


The Bureau of Land Management Price Field Office, 125, South 600 West, will sell Christmas tree tags until Dec. 24. Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Only one tag will be sold per family. Complete names and addresses will be needed for each tag. Up to three tags may be picked up for family members, but each will require complete names and addresses.

Bookcliff Muzzleloaders Meat Shoot


The annual meat shoot sponsored by the Bookcliff Muzzleloaders will be held Dec. 6 at 10 a.m. It will be held at Pinnacle Peak Range in Price. Sam’s famous homemade chili will be served free. Targets for women, juniors and men.

Riders for Santa


Riders for Santa will again be holding the toy ride for the children of Emery County. The ride will be Dec. 6 with riders meeting at Stewart’s parking lot in Castle Dale. Ride will begin at 11 a.m and continue to Orangeville for lunch. Everyone is reminded to bring a toy for the donation and a pot luck dish for the lunch. Women’s Volleyball


Women’s Volleyball will start on Jan. 7, 2004. If you have a team contact Larraine Pierce at 687-9795 or Karl Jensen at 653-2770. Deposits must be made by Dec. 4 to hold a place on the schedule. A meeting will be held at the Huntington Library on Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. to discuss the rules and how the league will run. Every team must have a representative at this meeting. Many issues concerning the league will be discussed and decided.

Food Handler’s Classes


There will be food handlers’ classes for all persons working in food handling establishments. Classes will be taught in Price Dec. 10 at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and in Castle Dale Dec.18 at 4 and 7 p.m. For more information contact Dr. Claron Bjork at 637-3671 or Terri at 381-2252.

Salvation Army


Donations are needed from Emery County residents to the Emery Chapter of the Salvation Army which provides emergency assistance for the people of Emery County as well as people traveling through the area. Mail donations to the Emery County Sheriff’s Office, Box 281, Green River, Utah 84525 or Emery County Sheriff’s Office, Box 817, Castle Dale, Utah 84513. DUP Afghan and CD


The Old Mill Camp of the DUP is offering a unique collection of over 200 pictures on CD. There are group pictures and pictures of past and present buildings in Ferron. The CD is being pre-sold to help raise money for the publishing of the book. Can be used as a screen saver or viewed as a picture album. The Old Mill Camp also has an afghan for sale. Union Local 6363


Attention, union meeting for local 6363 will be held the third Wednesday of every month at the District 22 office in Price. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. Attend if you want to receive 70 year anniversary cap.

Castle Dale Library Story Time


Story Time for pre-schoolers will be held every Friday at 11 a.m. except Dec 26 and Jan. 2.

Recreation Center Open Night


Open nights at the Emery County Recreation Center will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8-10 p.m. There will be basketball, foosball, table tennis, darts, board games, etc. For more information, please call Emery County Recreation at 381-2108.

DUP Holiday Socials


Old Mill Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will hold their Christmas Social on Dec. 4, at 3:30 p.m. at the Ferron Senior Center.

KUED Rebroadcasts


KUED Channel 7 will rebroadcas several programs due to popular request. Those programs are: Copper Canyon, Dec. 3 at 8 p.m., Mark Twain, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m., Sarah Brightman’s Harem Dec. 4 at 9 p.m., and the Johhny Cash Anthology on Dec. 6 at 8:30 p.m.
