Green River High honors serviceman

Baseball Coach Richards presents a signed baseball and cap to Tom Hughes and a plant to his wife, Shlisa.

Staff Sergeant Thomas Hughes and wife Shlisa were honored at the Green River High – Grand boys basketball game on Nov. 23.
Tom is a member of the 211th Aviation Unit that was deployed last December.
He joined his unit in Salt Lake in December 2003, then on to Fort Carson in January 2004. They left April 16th for their ultimate destination of Afghanistan.
He is home on leave and will return to his unit in Afghanistan on Dec. 5.
Tom was the Assistant Baseball Coach at Green River High, the baseball team signed a baseball and Coach Richards presented it to him as well as a team hat.
The Pirate HOOK Club (booster club – Helping Our Outstanding Kids) also gave him a HOOK Club Sweatshirt and Shlisa a plant.
The crowd gave him a standing ovation for the sacrifices he and his family are making in behalf of all of us.
He is greatly appreciated.
Tom and Shlisa have three small children, Michaela – 10, TJ – 7, and Tyner – 2
