Meagan Pearson slides into home for a run for Emery. The Lady Spartans softball sophmore team defeated Uintah.

Last week in Region 8 action, the Carbon Dinos cemented their lead in baseball with an 8-4 win over the Emery High Spartans. The Lady Dinos grabbed second place in region softball with a 14-4 win over the Lady Spartans.
In softball, the Dinos got revenge for an earlier loss with this handling of the Spartans. Morgan Warburton hit for the cycle (single, double, triple and homerun) to lead Carbon to the victory.
Carbon scored 11 runs in the first three innings before Emery finally scored with one single run in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth inning.
Although this wasn’t Emery’s best game of the season, Coach Alton was impressed that the players fought to the end. “We can play with anybody if we but put a total game together. We have four games left to show who we are,” said Alton. The sophmore team played Uintah on Wednesday and won both games.
In baseball action, Carbon used a six run fourth inning to claim control of the game that Emery had led 3-1 after three innings.
Carbon collected 14 hits including six doubles and a pair of homeruns in the win. Conlee Luke’s homerun was the Spartans only extra base hit out of six hits.
Both teams are currently in third place in region play with 2-3 records. Both teams have four games left in their seasons.
