Arco Poloni
PRICE-Arco Poloni, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away April 16, 2005.
Born May 9, 1922 in Kemmerer, Wyo. to Ben and Julia Citerio Poloni.
He was an Air Force Veteran of WWII, stationed at Luke Field. Married Fosca Frugni on April 16, 1945 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Arco was the owner of Utah Distributing Company and later retired from Joy Manufacturing. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of BPOE #150 and a honorary life member of the Elk’s Lodge.
Survived by his wife; daughter, Toni (John) Colosimo, Portland, Ore.; son, Jeff (Debora) Poloni, Price; grandchildren: Dina Colosimo, Kim (Brad) Colosimo Meyer, Kris Poloni, Jeana Poloni; brother, Arthur (Phyllis) Poloni; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by son, Ben Poloni; and sister, Gloria Pace.
Funeral service, Wed., April 20, 2005, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, where friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery. Tessie A. Jensen
Tessie A. Jensen, 93, of Lawrence, passed away April 15, 2005 in Ferron. She was born Sept. 7, 1911 in Cleveland to Ross and Bessie Franklin Knott. She married Walter K. Jensen Aug. 8, 1933 in Salmon City, Idaho
Tessie received numerous awards for her home making skills: crafts, baking and gardening. As a member of the LDS Church she served in the Relief Society since 1934 and was a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 2379.
She is survived by her children: Don and Marlene Jensen of Huntington, Marion and Dean Guhke of Oregon, Evelyn and Bob Naillon of West Valley, Perry and Olive McArthur, and daughter-in-law Velma Jensen. Also survived by 34 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren and two brothers. Preceded in death by her husband, five sons and two daughters.
Funeral services will be held Wed., April 20, 2005 at 2 p.m. in the Huntington First/Fifth Ward chapel. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Huntington Cemetery.
JoAnn Douros
PRICE-JoAnn Olsen Douros, age 70, died peacefully April 13, 2005 in Price.
She was born Feb. 22, 1935 in Mohrland, to Virgus and Lucille Storey Olsen. Married Steve Douros, Jan. 5, 1954 in Hiawatha. He died Jan. 9, 2005
JoAnn was a remarkable Christian woman, whose faith was strong and unshakable. She was a member of the Price Chapel-Christian Missionary Alliance. In spite of many years of suffering with health problems, she was always more concerned with the health and well being of her family and friends. Although we will miss her deeply, we are grateful that she is at peace.
Survived by her sons, Michael (Connie) Douros, John (Sue) Douros, both of Price; grandchildren, John Paul “JP,” Chris, Jenifer, Drew and Dustin.
Preceded in death by parents; brother, Jerry; husband, Steve; and sons, Christopher and Brad Douros.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Gagon and the ICU staff and Castleview Hospital for all their care.
Memorial service, Thurs., April 21, 2 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to service. Interment, Price City Cemetery.

SSgt. Patrick Ryan Pentico
“Tico”
HANKSVILLE/GREEN RIVER-Patrick Ryan Pentico, age 32, died March 31, 2005 while serving his country in the US Air Force.
He was born March 30, 1973 in Phoenix, Ariz. to Glen K. and Susie Ryan Pentico. Married Melissa Dickey, May 13, 2000 at her parents home in Orient, Wash.
Patrick and his wife had been in England for three and one-half years while stationed at RAF Mildenhall, where he was a loadmaster on an MC130H Talon II cargo plane.
“Tico” was a happy person who lived life to the fullest. He loved all kinds of music, motorcycles, traveling, and water skiing at Hite on Lake Powell. He cared dearly for his many friends, family and the love of his life, Melissa.
Patrick made a positive impact on this world and he will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Survived by his wife, Melissa Pentico, England; parents, Susie and Kevin Hatch of Hanksville, and Glen Pentico of San Diego, Calif.; siblings, Parvonae, Cortney and Cole Pentico, all of Salt Lake City. Patrick had a warm and loving relationship with his uncles, Donald (Donna) Ryan, of Amarillo, Texas; Tommy Ryan, of Orange county, Calif.; Richard (Della) Ryan, of Las Vegas, Nev.; Randy (Kathy) Ryan, and Michael Ryan, both of Green River; and Kelly Pentico. He was very close to his Hatch/Ekker relatives, including Dennis and Sherry Ekker and Steven and Carolyn Hatch and their families.
Preceded in death by his stepmother, Sherry Pentico; grandparents, George and LaVaun Pentico, Les Ryan and Marvel Ryan.
Funeral service, Thurs. April 21, at 1 p.m. at the Hanksville LDS Ward. Family will receive friends at the Church from 11a.m.-12:45 p.m. Interment will be in the Elgin Cemetery in Green River, at 4 p.m. with full military honors by the US Air Force. Arrangements under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
Harold Slaughter
PRICE – Harold Wayne Slaughter, age 80, passed away April 11, 2005, at Castleview Hospital after a long illness.
He was born July 16, 1924, in Marceline, Mo., to James Lark and Hazel Stevensen Slaughter. On Jan. 29, 1949, he married Iona Mae Heath in Elko, Nev.
As a young man Harold excelled academically and graduated from high school at the age of 16. He served his country in World War II as a gunners mate for the U.S. Navy.
Harold was a longtime resident of Carbon County where he retired from Utah Power & Light as a lineman in 1983. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by loving wife, Iona Slaughter, Price; three children, Patricia S. (Guy) Davis, Randy Wayne Slaughter, Justin K. “Sam” (Michelle) Slaughter, all of Price; four grandchildren, Akemi (Chad) Reynolds; Tiana (Jason) Secor; Haley Davis; and Devin Davis; and one more grandchild on the way; two great-grandchildren, MaKenna and Tysen Reynolds; and special dog Schnitzel, that he cared for and would always sit in his chair with him. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Glen and James; and sister, Myrl.
Funeral service, Fri., April 15, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Thursday from 7-8 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery.
Ces Kokal
HELPER – Celestine “Ces” Raible Kokal, age 88, passed away April 13, 2005 in Price.
Born Jan. 31, 1917, in Altus, Ark., to George and Katie Post Raible. Married John Kokal May 6, 1940, in Altus, Ark., he died Feb. 3, 1986.
Member of the Catholic Church where she was a member and past president for the DCCW. She was a member of St. Anthony Altar Society, Woman of the Year and and actively involved with many other committees and programs. Ces was a volunteer for the Western Mining and Railroad Museum in Helper for 10 years and was nominated as volunteer of the year. She was a people person who loved to talk and work in her garden.
Survived by three sons and one daughter, Jeannette (Robert) Stephen, Huntington Beach, Calif.; Thomas E. (Shanna) Kokal, Casper, Wyo.; Charles A. (Toni) Kokal, Littleton, Colo.; Edward “Pat” (Gaylene) Kokal, Helper; three sisters and one brother, Bertha Klacko, Chicago, Ill.; Loretta Milligan, Montero, Ill.; Rose Marie Evans, Chicago, Ill.; Vince Raible, Lake Oswego, Ore.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband; son, John Kokal; brothers, Bill, Leo and Roman Raible; and sister, Techla Burt.
Funeral Mass Sat., April 16, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Vigil service Friday evening, 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday and Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mountain View Cemetery, Helper.
