Although the final score doesn’t show it, the Emery Spartans were actually in the region football contest at half time against the Delta Rabbits. Score at the half was 14-6.
In that first half, Emery only had 104 yards of offense but 60 yards came on the last drive of the half. Dave Acosta had an 18-yard run, Dempsey Jeffs completed a 23-yard pass to Mike Jones and then threw a touchdown pass to Ryan Draper that covered 16 yards. Dave Justice caused a fumble and Steve Giles recovered it and Jordan Gee recovered another Delta fumble in the first half as Emery did a good job slowing down the fifth ranked Rabbits.
Delta had their way in the second half as they scored all four times they had possession. After a good kick-off return, Delta scored on a 35 yard run less than a minute into the second half and the Rabbits never looked back from there.
Emery is at North Sanpete this Friday night and home next Wednesday against Union to wrap up the regular season.
