Lady Spartan, Camille Fehlberg makes her way down the court with a block from teammate Rachel Rasmussen.

Last week was a good, horrible week. It was good in that the Lady Spartans played three times and won three times but it was horrible because of the manner of their play. It is a true testament to how good these girls actually are when they can play as bad as they did last week and still come away with wins. Emery defeated Grantsville on the road 69-57 and then returned home to defeat Pineview 63-43 and Dixie 52-41.
We witnessed 32 percent shooting in one game, 11 turnovers in another, missed lay-ups and air balls. And some of the shots that missed, really missed. And the energy that we have come to expect was simply not there. Maybe 10 games in 18 days and four bus trips took something out of them. Maybe the Christmas break will be good for them.
And now to the wins. At Grantsville, Emery was down 32-26 at the half, but rallied with a huge third quarter to grab the lead 50-39. Rachel Rasmussen was the leading scorer with 13 points followed closely by Jodie Lundell with 12 points. Jodie had four 3-pointers in the second half. Frankie Komar and Jodi Robertson each had 10 points. Meagan Pearson had 9 points, Camille Fehlberg had 8 points and ShiAnne Allred had 7 points.
Back at the Spartan Center, Emery was just too much for the Panthers. Even in their sluggish state they are formidable. Emery took the first quarter lead at 15-8 and never really let Pineview any closer.
Camille led the scoring with 13 points followed closely by ShiAnne with 12 points. Camille was 9 for 10 at the free throw line and ShiAnne was 8 for 10. Meagan scored 11 points to also finish in double figures.
Jodi had 8 points, the other Jodie had 6 points, Rachel had 5 points, Caitlin Hansen had 4 points and Frankie and Shalae Cox had 2 points each.
Against Dixie, the game was in doubt until the final period. After leading 35-34 at the end of three quarters, they had trailed 32-27; they started the fourth quarter on a 10-2 run. Four quick points by ShiAnne seemed to spark the team in that final period.
Leading scorer was Camille with 13 points. Meagan and Jodie L. had 9 points, Jodi R. had 8 points, ShiAnne had 6 points, Rachel had 4 points and Frankie had 2 points.
It was ugly but a win is a win. Emery will play Dec. 19 at Heber and Dec. 21 at Vernal. Emery will be at home against Springville on Jan. 5.
