EAST CARBON-Lois Jean Brewer Brinkley, age 78, returned home to her Heavenly Father surrounded by her children on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at Castle Country Care Center after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 30, 1931 in Athens, Ohio to George Henry and Myrtle Grace Brooks Brewer.
Married James Albert Brinkley on Dec. 10, 1947 in Sunnydale, Utah.
They made their home in East Carbon and raised six children, her passion was her family. She loved baking and having family dinners. She was a dedicated bowler and participated regularly in region and state tournaments. Lois enjoyed camping trips and summer vacations were a real treat when she traveled to Ohio and Oklahoma with her family.
Survived by husband, James “Doc” Brinkley, East Carbon; two sons and four daughters, Kenneth (Marion) Brinkley, East Carbon; Sandra (Larry) Westbrook, Green River, Wyo.; John (Debbie) Brinkley, Karen (Jerry) Stillson, both of Wellington; Sherri (Robbie) Allan, East Carbon; Shawna (Justin) Brinkley-Lehman, Tooele; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, and infant son, James Lynn Brinkley.
Funeral service was Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, 11 a.m. Living Water Baptist Church, 165 Circle Way in Sunnyside. Family received friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home and at the church Friday one hour prior to service. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
