FERRON/ORANGEVILLE-Mark Lyle DeBry was born on Nov. 18, 1959 to Charles “Bud” DeBry and Katherine Frkovich in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married Darline M. Beagley on June 21, 1984 in the Salt Lake Temple. Heaven needed a finely skilled craftsman so Dad was elected on Oct. 30 to pass through the veil to build our mansions there. His handsome, calloused hands showed cherished moments of work, service, and love. Dad loved to build and create works of fine quality. Many have recognized his ability to visualize beautiful creations and actualize their reality for all to enjoy. He lived in the joy of others; especially his family stood foremost in that enjoyment.
We all have cherished moments where Dad made his love known individually; whether it was working late hours adding special touches for a friend’s project, personalized cards of utmost sincerity, or the daily phone and morning wake-up calls to tell us, “I love you.” Dad shared all he had, from his Pepsi to the clothes on his back. Dad’s athleticism was seen on the football field or wrestling mat which came in handy with his sons. He could speak fluently on physics or farm animals. Dad was a master teacher by example and showed us how to achieve our goals. In the mountains, he pointed out the rocks, the leaves on the trees, the streams, and the flowers which taught us to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. He took every opportunity to express his love for his wife and children, and at home with us all piled on his bed or the couch, a tear in his eye, he felt he had a “taste of heaven.”
He had a knack of making little moment’s big ones. Whether reminiscing about his mission to Baton Rouge, La. with his boys, or his involvement in the scouts or church callings, he influenced many young men. He lived by cardboard “to do” lists, and served so many unconditionally, whether mom wanted to share him or not. Everyone sought him for their projects because of his talents and contagious sense of humor. Dad owned and operated DeBry Construction but found his dream job this past year as the Emery County Building Inspector which permitted time to fish with his family. In spite of his recent sickness, we had a perfect last day with our Dad, cooking us breakfast and spending the entire day with us being close and eating his favorite foods. This was truly one of God’s tender mercies. His legacy is evident in the support received from those whose lives he touched, which are many. Dad is the perfect example of a loving husband, father, friend, son and brother. We will cherish the time we’ve had, love you, and will miss you dearly until we are reunited.
He is survived by his wife Darline M. Beagley DeBry of Ferron; children Garrett L. (Tala) DeBry of Rexburg, Idaho., Logan G. DeBry of Price, Katherine D. DeBry, Elise A. DeBry, and Mark S. DeBry all of Ferron. He is also survived by his parents: Charles “Bud” and Katherine DeBry of West Valley and two brothers: Michael C. (Wendy) DeBry of West Valley, and Lawrence S. DeBry of Salt Lake City and nieces and nephews. Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents John Jacob and Dorothy DeBry, and George and Louise Frkovich.
A visitation will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home in Huntington on Wednesday Nov. 4 from 6-8 p.m. Services will be held on Thur. Nov. 5 at 11 am at the Ferron Stake Center located at 555 S. 400 W. in Ferron, Utah with a viewing to be held at the church from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Ferron City Cemetery. Funeral services provided under the care of Heritage Funeral Home in Huntington, Utah.
