Valentines Carnival
Huntington Elem. PTA will host its annual Valentines Carnival on Feb. 11 from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Huntington Elementary gym. There will be games, food and fun. Games include the cake walk, fish pond, basketball toss, bowling, bean bag toss, pop toss and many more. Bake sale and craft sale and a fortune teller, Tickets are 10 for $1. Everyone welcome.

Governing Youth Council Valentines Day Fundraiser
The Emery GYC will be doing another fund raiser for Valentine’s day. We will be selling balloon bouquets. We will deliver them on Valentine’s day. Five balloons with a small bag of candy for $5. Five balloons with a bag of cake pops for $7. Cake pops are suckers made out of cake coated with chocolate. Almost like a brownie. Contact Lorie Huntington at 749-1395
Nominations for the 2011 Silver Bowl Award are now being accepted!
If you are in Emery County and have a volunteer who you would like to nominate for this special honor, please fill out the nomination form
found on www.unitedwayuc.org . (Electronic submission is preferred, but paper forms are available at the Emery County Community Volunteer Center next to Boyd’s Pharmacy.) Nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, 2011. The following criteria will be used to choose one winner from each county. Longevity of volunteering. Average number of hours volunteered each week. Personal qualities making them an outstanding volunteer. Effect of nominee’s activities on the quality of life in the community. Overcoming personal and community problems or challenges. Lack of previous recognition of nominee’s contribution. Any other outstanding qualifications. You may nominate the same person for both the Silver Bowl Award and one of the Lt. Governor’s awards. The deadline for the Lt. Governor’s awards is February 1, 2011. All winners will be honored at an awards banquet during the 2011 Conference on Service, hosted by the Utah Commission on Volunteers, onApril 19. Lt. Governor Bell and other dignitaries will be present.

Attention Playwrights: Enter Your Work In The Cheyenne Little Theatre Players 3rd Annual 2010-2011 New Play Project
Cheyenne Little Theatre Players is proud to announce our 3rd Annual New Play Project Competition. The New Play Project Competition is a program created by the Cheyenne Little Theatre Players (CLTP) to encourage, recognize and support new and established playwrights and encourage new works in the field of dramatic literature.
We are currently seeking submissions from experienced or first-time playwrights in the seven state region of Utah, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska and Colorado. Entries must be full-length plays that have not been performed previously; no film scripts or musicals are allowed. The winning stage play will receive a staged reading by CLTP during its 2011-2012 Season. The deadline for entries is March 31, 2011 and the winning entry will be announced by June 1, 2011.The winning playwright will receive a $250 cash award as well as a $200.00 stipend to assist with travel to Cheyenne, WY to attend production meetings, auditions, rehearsals, and performances of the work. The competition entry fee is $20 per play submitted.

Recreation Adult Men’s Spring Basketball 2011
Come to the rec. center and sign up now! You have been asking for it and now is the time. This league will start March 3 and run until April. This is a league where you sign up and we place you on a team for the remainder of the season. The number of teams depends on the number of people that sign up.

Veteran Needs Help
Perk Allred is 76 years old and spent 20 years serving our country. He has lived most of his life in Emery County. Allred is now battling cancer. He recently discovered a leak in his home that has done considerable damage. He has to have extensive repairs to his home and needs help to accomplish this. Anyone that can contribute funds, materials, or manual labor to assist Perk in repairing and restoring his home will be greatly appreciated. Any and all donations will be accepted, every little bit will help. Please help this retired veteran during his time of need. Huntington Zumba
Zumba dance will be held at LaRae’s Dance Studio in Huntington on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 6:30 a.m., Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 8 p.m. The cost is $35 a month or $5 a class.
