Letter to the Editor: Are you standing up for freedom?

By JERRY STOTLER Ferron

Editor,
“So, what have you done for me lately?” (signed) Your Uncle Sam.
Talk is cheap, there is an abundant supply on the FreedomConnector.com and other internet sites. But, as Uncle Sam in asking, “What have you actually done for me lately?” How many civic meeting have you attended, how many newspaper opinion pieces have you written or letters to the editor, how many organizations have you attended and opined, have you been to a Tea Party meeting, or started one in your area?
All of us are eloquent enough as our writings here attest, so why are we not “Out There” taking chances in this battle? Examine your fears and then ask yourself, OK, so I am afraid to do this or that. What am I going to do about it, go lay down with my blankie and suck my thumb?
This battle (for freedom) cannot be won and will not be won without our taking some necessary risks, and some occasional hits, so that some Victories can be won. If we do not win this battle there may well be bloodshed in the streets. Some liberals are already calling for it.
Remember that Union leader in Wisconsin saying, “Perhaps it is time for us to get bloody.” The Occupy Movement was supposed to get violent, but it fizzled. If they are willing to get bloody, shouldn’t we be willing to suffer some ridicule, a little verbal attack here and there?
I have said for many years that Americans conservatives and Christians have become cowards, afraid someone might call them names, throw an egg or tomato at them or scream in their face. If you were a Christian in China, the Middle East, and many other parts of the world, your Christianity could get you killed. They take risks just walking down the street.
Every person is required to lead at some point in their lives. Leading is lonely and has some risk. But either we decide to do something significant with the time we have left or to continue to chase trivial pursuits? Choose you this day whether to do something significant for the cause of freedom or to wimp out.
Freedom starts with every one of us picking up our share of the burden so that someone else won’t have to carry your freedom burden for you.
Leadership is learned. Join a leadership training program or find a mentor to advise and coach you. But act now, Today is the day it starts. Today is the day to put away procrastination. Find two or three people who are willing to take action for freedom and go fight for freedom starting today.
Talk is cheap, but action speaks loudly. Take action today for the cause of freedom.
