ELMO-Roy Eugene Oviatt, age 83, passed away on Jan. 22, 2012 in Elmo, Utah. Roy was born on Sept. 20, 1928 in Elmo, Utah to Charles and Ada Olsen Oviatt. He married Celia McArthur on March 3, 1951.
Roy enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 16, where he was stationed in Guam during WW II. He worked on the railroad and the US Fuel Hiawatha Coal Mine. He was also a member of the Local 6363. Roy loved having his family together and spending time with them, watching the Jazz and the PBR. He spent his days tending water and watching his calves in the pasture and he loved riding his tractor and 4-wheelers.
Survived by his wife Celia, son Roy (MaryAnn) Oviatt of Elmo, daughters: Jenine (Chuck) Bentley of Elmo, Mitzi (Keith Barker) Zserai of Miller Creek, nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by son, Chet K. Oviatt, parents, brothers: Harv, Rex, Que, and Clint, sisters: Helen and Barbara.
Memorial services were held Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Elmo LDS Chapel (199 East Main). Family received friends from 12-12:45 p.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment was in the Elmo City Cemetery. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Friends and family may sign the guest book and share memories of Roy at www.fausettmortuary.com.
