Emery track wins Darrell Gardner Invitational

Emery High School hosted the annual Darrell Gardner Invitational track meet last week and the host school came away with the highest point total with 210 points. Wayne High was second with 130 points and Union High scored 85 points to finish in third place.
Brendon Jorgensen led the boy’s team with three first place finishes plus he was a member of a winning relay team. Ashlynn Allred led the girl’s team with three first place finishes also and she was also a member of a winning relay team.
Brandon McCandless and Whitney Withers each won two field events to assist the Spartans in their final point total. Here is each of the finishes by Emery athletes that scored points for their team: 100-meters boys Scott Jackson first in 11.72 and Jared Shakespaere fourth; 100-meters girls Ashlynn Allred first in 12.91; 200-meters boys David Dyer first in 24.81, Tyler Rowley third, Tyler Pulli fourth and Shakespaere fifth; 200-meters girls Allred first in 27.91 and Cassidy Labrum fourth; 400-meters boys Pulli second and Shakespaere fifth; 400-meters girls Allred first in 1:01.95, Hailee Rogers second and Cassidy Labrum fifth; 100-meter hurdles Catherine Dyer first in 17.61; 110-meter hurdles Jorgensen first in 16.38, Rowley third and Nagel Viera fourth.
In the 300-meter hurdles boys Jorgensen first in 42.97, Rowley second, Viera third, Justan Potter fifth and Jax Gardner sixth; 800-meters boys Aaron Brower third; 800-meters girls Jessica Guymon first in 2:38.79, Ashley Guymon fourth, Kassidee Oakeson fifth and Savannah Woolsey sixth; 1600-meters boys Caleb Woolsey first in 5:26.55 with Leedan Johnson second and Aaron Brower fourth; 1600-meters girls Jaecee Bird first in 6:25.71, Kassidee Oakeson second and Ashley Guymon fourth; 3200-meter boys Johnson first in 11:48.75 with Caleb Woolsey second, Davis Thompson third and Zac Clifford fourth; 3200-meters girls Bird third. In the field events, Taylor Hansen was first in the high jump with a jump of 6’1″ followed by Gavin Oviatt in third place and Justan Potter in fourth place. In the boy’s long jump, Jorgensen took first with a jump of 18’6.25″ followed by Pulli in second. Hailee Rogers won the girls long jump with a jump of 15’7″.
In the boy’s shot put, McCandless took first with a throw of 41’8. 5″ followed by Remi Hoffman in fourth and Travis Stout in eighth. Withers won the girl’s shot put with a throw of 29’2″. Hanna Dyer was second, McKayla Worthen was sixth, Rachel Rogers was seventh and Lauren Clark was eighth.
In the discus, McCandless was first for the boys with a throw of 116’9″ followed by Hoffman in seventh. Withers won the girl’s side with a throw of 88’6″. Hanna Dyer was third and Clark was sixth. In the javelin, Kalin Reynolds finished third for the boys while Jessica Guymon won the girls with a throw of 97’1″. Withers was third and Clark was seventh.
In the relays, Emery took first in the boy’s 4×100 relay, the girl’s 4×100 relay and the boy’s sprint medley relay. The girls took second in the sprint medley relay.
David Dyer, Scott Jackson, Brendon Jorgensen and Jared Shakespaere are members of the 4×100 team. Catherine Dyer, Hanna Dyer, Blayr Jeffs and Ashlynn Allred are members of the girl’s team. The boys sprint medley team was Jason Anderson, Jax Gardner, Tyler Rowley and Justan Potter. The girl’s team was C. Dyer, H. Dyer, Jessica Guymon and Labrum.
