Cleveland council plans for Cleveland Days

The Cleveland City council held their monthly council meeting on March 12.
Whitney Guymon requested use of the old town hall for her dance classes. The classes will run through July 31. Guymon is allowed to rent the old city hall for $100 a month with the provision she keep it clean and provides limited liability insurance. She must also sign a contract.
The burn period is open until May 30. The city will provide dumpsters again for the spring clean up. They will be put out around April 10. Another dumpster will be put out for Cleveland clean up day in late May.
Jamie Jensen contacted Emery Animal Health concerning stray animals. It takes approximately one hour for a city employee to take a stray animal to the facility in Castle Dale. Most cities charge the animal owner a fee for the cost incurred by the city. The fee ranges from $25-$30. Next month Carolyn from the animal clinic will attend the council meeting. She will let the council know the resources available for the feral cat program. A change to the animal ordinance will have to be advertised and discussed before it can be changed.
The Utah League of Cities and Towns conference will be April 8-10.
There will be excess dirt from a road project in Cleveland. First, the city will replenish the dirt pile at the cemetery and utilize a list to give away any other excess dirt.
The next Cleveland Days meeting is on March 26.
The city only received one bid for to replace two windows at the old town hall. S and V glass was awarded the bid for $1,040.
The city received bids for the lights at the old town hall. They would like the companies who bid to give separate bids one for four foot lights and one for eight foot lights.
Councilwoman Verla Jensen attended a recreation board meeting. All Emery County Recreation sponsored sports are covered by insurance.
Councilman Mike Taylor will let the Special Service District know a sidewalk will need to be repaired before Cleveland Days.
Mayor Kobi Erni said Cleveland Days planning is getting started. They would like to have some different activities this year. The Branding Committee is a new group being formed to promote tourism in Emery County. The first meeting will be on March 17 at 7 p.m.
