Samuel Thomas Harrison, Castle Dale Utah. “Each day I would check the obituaries and the funny papers to see if I was in either, well today I can stop checking the obituaries.” Sam was the 8th child born to Ezra and LaNora Grange Harrison in Huntington, Utah on August 19, 1927 and passed away on March 19, 2015, on a beautiful spring day, doing what he enjoyed most, looking over his garden. He is survived by an older brother Elwin and a younger sister Margret, both of California.
Sam married his sweetheart, Joy Williams, on September 6, 1949 in the Manti L.D.S. Temple. To this union seven children were born, Mary Jean (Marr Duersch), Kristine (Dale Richards), Thomas (April), Bonnie (deceased), Nanette, Pamela (Brad Jensen), and David (Anna). To this family of seven, 21 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren started a legacy of hard work, faith, gardening, and knowledge of appropriate language.
Sam proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1945 -1949. Our beloved brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather worked hard, taught much and loved deeply. Our dad and grandpa stood 10 feet tall and if you believe in heroes, you know him. A viewing was held on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Castle Dale Stake Center at 11 a.m. with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to services. Interment will be in the Castle Dale Cemetery with military honors. Friends may visit and sign the online guest book at www.fausettmortuary.com.
