Emery Golf holds home meet: finishes third at Millsite

The Emery High boys’ golf team hosted the final region meet of the season last Wednesday and the host team finished third behind Grand and Manti. San Juan, North Sevier and Gunnison finished behind the Spartans. Grand shot a 330 while Manti shot 338 and the Spartans shot 344. Individually junior Race Nielson led the way with a score of 80 with freshman Oakley Toomer shooting the Spartans second best score with an 84. Finishing third for the Spartans was the lone senior on the team Kyler Farley with an 88. Freshman Shaidyn Killpack shot a 92, junior McKoy Holt shot a 101 and junior Deryk Fuller shot a 112.
Toomer has been the top scorer for the Spartans throughout the season with Holt possessing the second best average.
The region will play the region tournament this Wednesday at the Carbon Country Club and then will close out the season with the Utah State 2-A golf tournament at Soldier Hollow golf course in the Heber Valley next Wednesday and Thursday. Emery has six golfers qualified for state including: Race Nielson, Oakley Toomer, Kyler Farley, Shaidyn Killpack, McKoy Holt and Deryk Fuller.
