"The ropers get ready for their turn to ride."

Emery County and surrounding areas once again stepped up to help a family in need. On Oct. 3 a benefit roping and fundraiser for the Jacobson Family was held. This local rodeo family has fallen on tough times as their mother Heather Ward Jacobson and son and brother Broc Jacobson were killed in a terrible vehicle accident on Aug. 15. Landon, the father, was severely injured in the accident. He has been in the hospital since the time of the accident and was released on Sept. 29. Son, Bowdie Jacobson suffered several injuries as well. Two other children weren’t with the family at the time of the accident, Brant and Baylee.
Landon is still struggling with memory loss and many medical problems due to the accident. He will be recovering and in physical therapy for a long time.
Friends of the family and the rodeo family put together this fund raiser for the family. Several items were donated to the auctions and items came in from around the west including Montana and other states.
A large raffle was also held with many great donated items given away. The ropers were on hand and began at 3 p.m. and roped their way through the night into the wee hours of Sunday morning ending about 4 a.m.
Organizers said the support for the Jacobson family was just amazing and they are thankful to all who came and participated and to all who donated items for both the live and silent auctions and for the raffle.
The great meal was cooked by master chefs Jon and Cindi Judd. It’s estimated 400 or more people came and ate the dinner.
The Live Auction auctioneers made sure top dollar was raised for all the auction items.
One of the special donations that came in for the event was the donation of a roping horse to the Jacobson children. This horse was donated by Tallen Bennett and the Bowler family. He is the son of Bob and Kenna Bowler of Enterprise.
As this family continues to heal remember them with continued donations and support. Emery County has shown once again why it’s a great place to live as the outpouring of love for this family was amazing.
