The Emery Lady Spartan softball team played a pair of games last week in region action and won both games rather easily. The Spartans had a game scheduled against Piute at Piute on Tuesday and a home game scheduled against Piute on Friday.  But after the Spartans defeated Piute 27-1 in three innings in the first game, the two coaches decided to play the Friday game as part of a double-header next instead of a JV game. Emery also won the second game in just three innings by the score of 19-1.
Braileigh Clark started on the mound in the first game and pitched two innings giving up no hits and no runs and she walked two batters and she
struck out four batters. Kaylee Price pitched the final inning of the game and she gave up no hits but she walked two batters and she struck out two batters. One of those batters that walked scored in the third inning.
In the second game of the day, Bailey Huggard pitched all three innings and she allowed no base hits, she struck out seven and she gave up just a single walk. Huggard threw 49 pitches in the three innings with 33 of those being strikes.
Emery scored 15 runs in the first inning of game one and six in each of the second and third innings. In the second game, Emery scored seven times in the first inning, 11 more times in the second inning and just once in the third inning. The Spartan batters combined four 34 base hits, walked 13 times and they struck out just four times in the two games.
In the first game Addy Healy and Megan Dawes each had a pair of singles and Mollee Hurst, Autumn Stilson, Maryn Allred, Morgann Donaldson, Madisyn Alton, Madison McCandless and Clark each hit one.  Clark had two doubles and Allred, Jayla Weston and Price each hit one double. Eighteen different batters scored in the game. In the second game, Healy and Adri Childs each hit a double and Huggard and Weston each hit triples with Jayla hitting two of them. Healy, Huggard, Larissa Thompson and Childs each had a pair of singles while Donaldson, Weston, Regan Rasmussen, Clark and Alton each had one single. Emery’s schedule says they play at San Juan on Tuesday and at home on Thursday against South Sevier.
