Taste of the West


On Feb. 22 the Community Theater will do a musical presentation entitled, “Taste of the West,” along with cowboy stories and poetry as part of the Cultural Olympiad traveling exhibit of “Artists of the American West” and other special displays now showing at the Museum of the San Rafael daily from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Plan your visit to enjoy these local cultural experiences on or before March 9.

King Lear at CEU


Don’t miss the classic production of Shakespeare’s King Lear, directed by Todd Olsen that will premier Feb. 21, and run through Feb. 27 (excluding Sunday) at the Geary Theatre at 7:30 p.m. A fundraising dinner and show will be Thursday at 6 p.m. in the College Center Ballroom. Millsite Golf Course

Attention Parents

Volunteers Needed


Turnquist Retreat in Elmo is looking for volunteers to entertain elderly residents with singing, dancing, playing instruments, visiting, and playing games. You will enjoy the company of the folks at Turnquist. Please call 435-653-2555 and ask for Tonya.

HEAT Program


Emery County Community Services at 40 South Center Street in Castle Dale, is still accepting applications for the Home Energy Assistance Target Program, which assists eligible households with winter heating bills. Applications taken by appointment. Contact Sandy at 381-5410.

D.R.O.P.S Available to All


The Distribution and Redistribution of Produce Surplus, sponsored by Emery County Community Services, is available to everyone on a first come, first serve basis. The next DROPS Truck will be in the parking lot of the Desert Edge Christian Church (500 South Main in Huntington) on Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. DROPS is a drive through; no early birds. For questions, call 381-5410. You must be present to pick up a box.

Dog License Deadline


Cleveland residents are required to license their dogs by Feb. 28. All dogs must have proof of current rabies shots to be licensed. Persons failing to do so are subject to a $15 fine in addition to regular fees. This late fee will be enforced as of March 1.

Huntington Dog Licenses


Huntington 2002 dog licenses are now due; deadline March 1. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Rabies clinic Feb 23, at Fire Station, 9-noon, Brent Griggs DVM. Call 687-2436 for more information.

LDS Singles Activities

Gospel Concert


On Feb. 22, there will be a gospel concert at Rock Canyon Worship Center, 3410 North Canyon Road in Provo at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and will feature the Rock Canyon Choir, music teams and solists, and a special presentation by church drama team. For additional information, call 801-374-5725.

Dog Licenses Due


Orangeville dog licenses are due by Feb. 28. A rabies clinic will be held at the city fire station Feb. 23 from 9 a.m.-Noon. Citations will be issued on March 1, with additional fees assessed for late licensing.

Ceramic Art at CEU

Multicultural Performance


Multicultural Services of Utah will present a one night, ninety minute performance on March 6, at 7 p.m. at the Emery High Auditorium. Tickets are affordable for individuals and families. Rembrandt at SUU


Friends of the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery present Rembrandt: The Consummate Etcher and Other 17th Century Printmakers. World of the Wild


Utah’s Hogel Zoo’s call for the “wild” is going out once again to all Utah artists with a 9th Annual Art Show taking place now until April 14. Catch this “World of the Wild” exhibit and see your favorite animals at the same time.

A field service officer of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in Price at Workforce Service Center from 9-10:30 a.m. on Feb. 27. This service is free to all veterans.
