WELLINGTON-James Basil Anderson, age 82, passed away in Price in the early Christmas morning hours of Dec. 25, 2009.
He was born July 2, 1927 in Marietta, Ill. to Marion Francis and Sybil Smith Larwood Anderson.
After returning from the service he married Arline Huff on June 27, 1948 in Castle Gate, Utah.
James was a dedicated member of the United Mine Workers of America, Kaiser Steel Local #9958 where he worked in various mines in the area for 42 years. He honorably served his country and was an life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Miners Post #2379.
James enjoyed hunting, fishing, and during miner’s vacation he loved fishing for weeks at a time at Fish Lake. He was a sports enthusiast and an avid Braves and Jazz fan. In his spare time his hobbies included mechanicing and restoring autos. His passion for autos kept him actively involved with his family and always preparing for the next stock car race. James was a man of many talents and he enjoyed sharing these traits with all.
He is survived by his loving wife, Arline Anderson, Wellington; son, James Scott Anderson, Spring Glen; daughter, Lorain Stevenson, Price; brother, Gene L. Anderson, Leeds, Utah; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Lonnie G. Anderson; and son-in-law, Jimmy Stevenson.
Funeral service, Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday evening from 6-7 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
