SPRING GLEN- Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Nedra Caroline Monroe Richardson, age 93, passed away Jan. 21, 2010, at the Kolob Care and Rehabilitation in St. George while surrounded by her family. She was born April 15, 1916 in West Hiawatha, Utah to Ruthvin “Curly” and Verna Delora Moss Monroe. Married Chester Alva Richardson Dec.14, 1938 in Price. He died Aug. 13, 1966.
Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on Oct. 28, 1967. Nedra was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed organizing and participating in “Canyon Days” and many of her fondest memories were those she shared while working at the confectionary and boarding house in Standardville. She loved organizing bus tours in the area and she traveled the country with many dear friends and acquaintances.
Nedra enjoyed family gatherings, especially the annual Christmas party at her home. She loved sewing, playing the piano, tennis, and she shared a special love for music. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff of Kolob Care Center and Utah Hospice.
Nedra is survived by fours sons, one daughter and their spouses, Fred (Merla) Richardson; Bob (Billie) Richardson; Tom (Diana) Richardson; Dennis (Denise) Richardson, all of Spring Glen; Marlene (Jim) Gunderson, St. George; 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Jim Monroe; grandson, Sean Gunderson; and great-grandson, Riley Richardson.
Funeral service, Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, 11 a.m., Carbonville LDS Ward in Spring Glen. Family will be at the church Wednesday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily.
