CARBONVILLE-Lifelong resident of Carbon County, William Crocco, 85, returned to his Father in Heaven on Dec. 10, 2010 at Parkdale Care Center in Price.
He was born in Kenilworth, Utah to John and Nannetta (Annie) Amantea Crocco on April 20, 1925.
Bill joined the Army, while still in high school. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Pacific. He was decorated for bravery with a Bronze Star while serving the country he loved and honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
He graduated from Carbon High School and from Carbon College with a degree in accounting. His career was spent in office management positions, such as warehouseman, payroll clerk, and office manager. Bill worked for Independent Coal and Coke, North American Coal and Valley Camp at locations in Castle Gate and Clear Creek.
On Oct. 13, 1951, Bill married Mavis Catlin in Helper, Utah. They were later divorced.
Bill was an avid sportsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, and picnicking with family and friends. He was a skilled carpenter. Between his sharp mind and talented hands, he could build anything. Bill was an excellent cook, especially when it came to Italian food. He enjoyed sharing his love of cooking with friends and family. Bill also enjoyed gardening and his yard was always perfectly manicured and his gardens were always beautiful. He was long time member of the Price Elk’s Lodge.
Bill was very proud of his Italian heritage and he traveled to Europe several times. He also enjoyed traveling extensively through the United States and Canada. Family was the most important thing in his life. His brothers were his best friends and he lived for visits from his sister, children, grandchildren and others.
Bill is survived by his three children, William Crocco, Helper, Marla (Terry) Marshall, Price, Guy (Katherine) Crocco, Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his siblings, Frank (Joan) Crocco, Helper, Eugene (Gaylene) Crocco, Price and Janet (Eugene) Barbiero, Tooele; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, three brothers, Guy, Johnny and Mario; sister, Katherine; and nephew, Gene Crocco.
The family would like to thank the staff at Parkdale Care Center and Dr. Potter for the care they provided William over the last four years.
Funeral Mass, Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Monday evening 5 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
