I learned that the National Foundation For Women Legislators 2011Student Scholarship Program Essay Contest deadline has been extended to June 24. The topic is “The Impact of the First Amendment on Women Leaders and Social Media.” The essay is to be only 400-600 words in length.
The website for more information is womenlegislators.org/events/scholarship-program. Any young woman who was a junior or senior in the 2010-11 school year is eligible to participate.
Last year Katie Hiatt, a senior at San Juan High School, was one of eight winners. Katie’s essay won her $3,000 towards a college of her choice and an all expense paid trip to the annual convention with me.
