Now that the holidays are behind us, I looked back upon the things that really made Christmas special and worthy of becoming family traditions. One of the most enjoyable was the performance by the Huntington Glee Club in concert with a children’s choir and women’s choir. Although I have enjoyed the Christmas and July concerts for several years, the nearly 400 in attendance was the largest I have seen so far. Apparently the word is getting out.
I have spoken many times of my appreciation of the Glee Club, but I still don’t think they receive the praise they deserve. For a small area like Emery County to have a choir of such high caliber and longevity is truly amazing. I’m not sure of how long, but I think it goes back over 75 years. When I hear people talk of buying $50 tickets and driving to Salt Lake to see a concert there I just say, “I’ll just save my money and miles on my car to stay home and listen to a better program.”
