Ashley Ilene Hansen, age 18, of Roosevelt, our lively, beautiful, determined sister, daughter, granddaughter, cousin, aunt and friend was welcomed into the arms of her loving grandfather Gerald, who led her to her Heavenly home on Friday, Nov. 13, 2015. Ashley’s family is sustained by their belief in the Savior, and the fact that she seemed to squeeze every opportunity from life that she could.
Ashley, a senior at Union High School was born on Oct. 3, 1997 to Kevan Dan Hansen and Lori Cathleen Updegraff, the youngest of their four children. She attended Huntington Elementary and Canyon View Jr. High before moving with her dad, sisters and step-mom, Joleen Hansen to Roosevelt in 2011. She then attended Roosevelt Jr. High and Union High School where she excelled in academics and athletics. She played volleyball, softball and tennis. Tennis was her passion. Despite her small stature, she battled her way to play first singles, and felt privileged to serve as team captain this year.
Ashley never did anything halfway. She pushed herself to achieve despite facing tough odds. She beat those odds, developing a strong-willed, competitive streak that served her well as she grew into an amazing young woman. Ashley could put on a tough exterior, but she cared about people deeply, and lived for the time she spent with family and friends.
She is survived by her parents, Kevan and Joleen Hansen, Roosevelt; mother, Lori Updegraff, SLC; sisters, Brittany Hansen, Herriman; Shantelle (Josh) Brignolo, Torrington, CT; Kayla Hansen (Quincy Vreeken), Roosevelt; half-sisters, Kiona Muncy and Kaylee Housekeeper, seven step-siblings, her grandmother, Ilene Hansen, step-grandparents, Fred and DeCarma Allred, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
