Jessica Olsen, Jessica Mason, and Camrey Johnson, members of the Emery High School Lady Spartan volleyball team, were named to the 2A Volleyball Academic All-State Team. For over 25 years the UHSAA has presented the Academic All-State Award to recognize those students who have excelled in the classroom as well as in athletic competition. Individuals are selected for this award on the basis of their athletic ability and academic proficiency. With over 85,000 students participating in high school activities, this award is the most prestigious honor the UHSAA presents to senior students. The cumulative GPA for this year’s honorees was 4.0.
Jessica Olsen has been a member of both the volleyball and basketball team for the past four years. She has been a starter on the varsity team both her junior and senior year. Jessica was the co-captain this year. She currently serves as the Student Body School Secretary and is the president of the Future Business Leaders of America Club at Emery High School. Jessica is also the Sterling Scholar in Business and Marketing for her high school, and is the Vice-President of the National Honor Society. Besides school and sports, she loves being in the outdoors boating and riding horses with her family. She plans to attend college in the fall and major in either neuroscience or archeology. Jessica is the daughter of Scott and Ingrid Olsen of Castle Dale.
Jessica Mason has been on the volleyball team for the past four years, and she was starting right hand hitter this year. She is also a member of the softball team. Jessica is active in Student Government, and writes for the Emery High School newspaper. She is the Sterling Scholar in the Consumer and Family Science category. Jessica is a member of the FLBA and FCCLA organizations at Emery High School. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. Jessica also loves being in the outdoors and can often be found helping her family on the cattle ranch. She is the daughter of Marty and Stacy Mason of Castle Dale.
Camrey Johnson has always had a love for sports and has excelled both on and off the court. Johnson has been a part of the varsity volleyball team since her freshman year and has been a starting setter as a junior and senior. Camrey contributed greatly to the team’s performance during the season and during the 2A state tournament where the Spartans took home a 7th place finish. Her hustle and determination on the court can also be seen in the classroom. Camrey maintains a 4.0 GPA, is Emery High School’s Sterling Scholar in Science, is active in student government and seminary council and is the National Honor Society President. Camrey plans to attend college in the fall to pursue a degree in Nursing. Camrey is the daughter of Doug and Tracey Johnson of Orangeville.
Travis Fehlberg was named to the 2A Academic All-State team for boys cross country. The combined GPA for boys cross country was 3.999. Travis is the son of Carma and Reed Fehlberg of Huntington.
