The Southeastern Utah Energy Producers recently honored Sen. David Hinkins at their annual banquet. SEUPA President said their organization works to educate people about the benefits of fossil fuels. They have billboards across the state that tell people what energy producers do and how vital they are to the economy and the welfare of the people. Energy producers are under appreciated and the SEUPA group began with nine members working to get the word out.
Deb Dull, board member presented information about Industrial Electric and Sen. Hinkins and family. She detailed how the small business in Orangeville has grown and has customers throughout the world.
Sen. Hinkins accepted his award from Dull and SEUPA president.
“Electrical generation in our counties is in trouble. The mineral lease monies from extraction industries are decreasing. We got into the industry at a good time and the energy industry has been good to me. I’m thankful for the friends I have made in the industry. We all started at Harmond Electric when we were kids. We’re in competition with each other, but we remain friends.
“We try to give each other business when we can to keep each other going. Thanks to the SEUPA organization and the contribution its made to keep this industry going and for promoting the industry.
“Utah is a good place for industry and growth because power costs here have been inexpensive. If the inexpensive power goes away, it will be harder to attract industry here. High tech industries need power. It would be a tragedy if this goes away. Thanks to all of you who have supported our business throughout the years,” said Sen. Hinkins.
