The Canyon View Cougars’ victory at the Castle Valley Association Wrestling Tournament was only by 6.5 points but a victory is still a victory. The Cougars last two wrestlers in the 175 and 275 weight classes took first and secpnd to secure the win.
Team scores for the tournament were Canyon View 205.0, Mont Harmon 198.5, San Rafael 173.0, Helper 146.0 and East Carbon 115.00.
Winning at 75 lbs. was Jacob Bass of East Carbon with Jesse Jewkes of San Rafael finishing third. Winning at 81lbs. was Tyson Damron of Helper with Ben Cook of Canyon View second.
At 87 lbs,, Jason Giles, San Rafael finished first. At 93 lbs., it was Cole Hunt, East Carbon finished first and Cort Jensen, Canyon View finished second. At 99 lbs., Dusty Jensen, Canyon View finished first. At 105 lbs., Jason Fredrickson finished first as he decisioned Vern Kofford, San Rafael. Addison Collard, Canyon View finished third.
At 111 lbs., Andrew Salazar, Mont Harmon pinned Jace Guymon, Canyon View for first. Caleb Worthen, San Rafael was fourth. At 118lbs., Josh Dennison, Mont Harmon took first and Yochio Espino, Canyon View was third.
At 124 lbs., Jordan Phelps,major decision over Chance Ariotti of Canyon View. At 124 lbs., Chris Noyes, Helper was first and Derrick Allred, Canyon View was fourth.
At 140 lbs., Mike Jones, Canyon View was first. At 148 lbs., Jesse McArthur won with his third pin of the night.
At 155 lbs., Anthony Kelley, Helper won over Kaeden Murdock, Canyon View with Dustin Nielsen, San Rafael taking fourth. At 165 lbs., Kenny Baker, San Rafael won with a pin and Drew Bohn, Canyon View finished fourth.
At 175 lbs., Wade Bohn, Canyon View pinned his opponent for first and Trevor Mitcheson, San Rafael took third. At 275 lbs., Tracy Jackson, Canyon View lost to Eric Dickerson of East Carbon for first and Bo Bloomer, San Rafael finished third.
